Our State of Bean

Established in 2004, State of Bean Coffeehouse has become a favorite hangout for local families, students, "mom" groups, and anyone who enjoys a great coffee, mocha, or specialty latte. We offer free wireless Internet in a relaxed and inviting atmoshere, "The Bean" proudly supports a number of Andover athletic and academic endeavors by making targeted donations whenever possible. We also recently opened up our walls to the display of Andover High School student art and photography projects.

Owner and operator, Dan Gorder, opened State of Bean after being approached by property owner Dan Fairbanks to add a neighborhood gathering spot to his new commercial property. Dan recently fell in love with coffee and loved the late night coffeehouses; with their eclectic mix of people, the uplifting aroma of fresh coffee beans, and comfortable surroundings. He realized that Andover lacked a real coffeehouse. Dan was convinced to take his life savings and dive headfirst into the coffee business. The Bean was born!

Using contemporary styling and warm colors, State of Bean Coffeehouse creats a comfortable spot that welcomes beat poets and business people alike. More than atmosphere, great food, and cozy comforts, State of Bean has always been about the drinks. From freshly roasted fair-trade coffees, the Bean creates every drink with care and attention to detail. Come, relax, and stay a while at the Bean!
